I'm about to go outside and weed a flower bed, so I don't have a lot of time to prep my humor and wit for this post. That said, it may in fact suck.
So anyway. I finally made it out of formal orientation at my new job, but am now in more job specific orientation. Though I'm STILL reading policies/procedures, I'm also finally getting to actually shadow folks...and they really don't have a lot of good things to say about the agency. It seems to come with the territory, so I'm not all that scared, and it helps that I'm only part-time. When my 29 hours are up for the week, I get the hell out. Now, however, another full time position has opened up, and my boss keeps trying to get me to take it. Why would I do that, though? They sold me on part-time. I get paid more to work less, and I don't need health benefits. Why in the hell would I switch to working more and making less?? I'm actually sort of scared they'll take away my hours until I agree to taking full time, but they're in such a bind right now needing people that I don't foresee that happening anytime soon. What I need to do is just suck it up and begin my three year trek toward getting licensed (Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW). Once I'm licensed, I can work on post...and they take care of their social workers (I think)!! Yeah, so that's the job stuff. I heart office politics....
In other, better news, Joe is back!! Woohoo. I missed the hell out of him, and I'm so glad he's home. He got back on Friday evening, so we hit our favorite sushi place and then both exhausted, came home to Dex. And what a reception Joe got from Dex. The damn dog ran right past me, straight to Joe. Ha. Yesterday we got so much stuff done. Got the oil changed and tires rotated/balanced on my car, bought plants, paint, and stain at Lowe's, planted plants, took Dex to the dog park, watched a weimaraner puppy get attacked by another dog there (it was fucking awful), AND grocery shopped. I have no idea how we fit all that stuff in, but we did. And it was damn nice to have a partner to do it all with. PS. The weimer puppy is okay. The other dog (a scared, insecure dog), bit the weimer pup by its nose and drug it for a sec. HORRIBLE. You could see the puncture mark, which was bleeding pretty good, in the pup's nose from a tooth. The owners, pissed, took it to the e-vet, so I'm sure it's fine. Nothing fatal.
Today we're sort of chilling. Joe made omelettes this morning, and I think we might weed the flower bed a bit more before we go clothes shopping. I realize all of this sounds terribly boring, but it's nice. Especially since yesterday there was a scare that Joe would have to leave town TODAY for another week of training. It's actually a two week training, but since it's only in ATL, they'd come home next weekend. Instead, Joe's going up for the second week, so he'll leave next Sunday and then be back that Thursday night. Good thing because our ball is on that Friday, May 1 (Joe doesn't look any hotter than when he's in full dress greens). He actually has the whole damn day of the ball off, but I'll be at work until I have to go get my hair done. Damn damn damn. That's what sucks about working when you're married to a military man. Any shred of time he has off I want to take advantage of, but with me working, it's not going to be as easy anymore. Ah well. Not spending every available minute together may be healthier anyway. Joe will get to have his own time at home, as I already do. I'm glad to see both sides of this situation. It still sucks he's leaving again so soon. Time is ticking and eventually he'll be gone for longer than just five weeks.
That said, it's time for me to shut this thing down and hang with Joey!

Yay for married life!!! :) Also, I do think it's healthier on the relationship when the husband & wife doesn't spend every free moment together. When we were first married (before I started working at AV Ford), I used to follow Paul around like a puppy. Now, even when he's actually home on the weekends, I gotta tell him "Sweetie I have papers to grade" and he's cool with that because that allows him time to play Civ or cook or whatever else he does. So it works! :)
I pretty sure I would have attacked the dog...
Glad you guys are together again...poor puppy, hope he is ok. What are you doing for Joey's birthday? I wish I was in the South...miss it and you girls too.
