It's Thanksgiving Week, Y'all

This time in two days we'll be in good ol' Mississippi, perhaps even questioning if we've made the right travel plans.  I think any family gathering causes one to consider alternatives after the fact, but still I'm excited for it and welcome the insanity.  Then, it'll be back to multiple years of staying home.  :-)

We've been on a four day weekend since Thursday.  It's flown by, and sadly, I don't really remember Thursday or Friday.  One day was errands and the other day was something.  I ran one day as well as today.  Something, something.  Yesterday we actually gathered with people for a Thanksgiving dinner who were for the most part NOT in Joe's unit.  HOORAY!!  Sometimes I feel like we get so wrapped up in everything - the same people and politics that it's really nice to get a breath of fresh air.  Plus, they had two fried turkeys.  Amazing.  AMAZING.

Today's been a good day too, despite a rocky start.  I caught Joel Osteen AND Word on Fire this morning and have actually continued to contemplate both (similar) messages throughout the day.  Something about watching church from my living room makes me feel less judged.  AND, these guys have great voices, which helps me pay attention.  I could go on about my past church issues, but I'll spare you.

Later in the afternoon, Joe and I went to a nearby park with very FEW hills.  Thank God.  It was the first day of my 28 minute runs.  Joe started off with me and then ran off to do some sprints to train for his upcoming half marathon.  The run didn't start well for me, though they never really do, but about half way through I settled in and felt I could go for a while.  I knew I could have kept going, but I'm not looking to max out right now.  Just finish the runs.  The goal today was 28 minutes or 2.75 miles.  With all the hills I usually have, I look more at my time than distance, but today Joe said I nailed the distance as well.  He was really proud, which was pretty great.  I'm proud too, and I'm even starting to notice physical changes in my shape, etc.  It's really good.

On a final note, Joe and I ate out together for the only time this month since his grandma rolled through and took us out.  We got the Domino's carryout special - Lg 2 topping for $5.99.  It was $6.41 with tax.  We've done so well to tighten our budget this month.  It has not been easy, but we have made it work and will have leftover money for Christmas gifts that does not have to come out of savings.  Still, here's hoping Joe is sent to the promotion board ASAP...though I keep wanting to call it the "parole" board...HA.  It seems there are probably plenty of parallels.....

You were the only one to comment! Thanks by the way! We don't Skype (internet in his room is $140...NO THANKS!) we usually end up sending naughty Facebook messages or get on chat. There is only so much you can do with a lack or resources yah know? I never think about guys listening in. Whoopsie! We get a bit chatty sometimes ;). I need to hit up a Pure Romance party though. Shopping at Pricillas and places like that lead to creeps that sing "If You Like Pina Coladas" to you as you are picking out a lube flavor...not that that happened to me or anything.
