I Am All Kinds of Riled Up Right Now

First, Joe just rolled over and is taking up 2/3 of the bed. We so need a king sized bed. He is mouth-breathing right at me. EEK.

Anyway.

Dude. Dude. Dude. We can't get organized over here. If I'd had balls, I would be able to report that I worked them off this weekend. I got the rest of our bedroom/closet/and master bath put away. I tried to give us a space that was completely organized - Joe has a place just inside the closet (easy access) for his ACU's, as well as a little basket just outside it for the contents of the pockets of his ACU's. He also has a night stand with drawers to put stuff in, etc. Yet still tonight there was a bit of a panic about him not having the correct PT uniform for tomorrow. He's a grown man, yet I still feel like it's my fault because I'm supposed to be handling the home right now and all the chaos here is bleeding into Joe's professional life. SIGH SIGH SIGH.

That said, I think I'm going to get the office and garage straightened out tomorrow in an effort to begin some classic conditioning. To preface my idea, let me tell you a quick story: As a kid my mom had the chronic disease of forgetting to bring her lunch box home from school. After several times of this happening, my oma, at her wit's end, asked my mom what happened on any given day just before she'd leave school. My mom told her that she would hear her bus number called out right before she got on it to go home. Oma of course then told her to think 'lunch box' every time she heard her bus number. Bus number = lunch box. If I remember correctly, Oma would even say Mom's bus number to her and have her respond with 'lunch box.' (Tell me if this isn't right, Ma.) Anyway. However it went down, it worked. When Mom heard her bus called, she'd think of her lunch box.

So what does all of this mean for us? Well. I need to have some sort of stimulis for Joe to focus on when he gets home. Something he sees right when he walks in that reminds him to go into the office where there will be a very specific place for him to put his military paperwork and make a list of what needs done before the next day. That way he's still in military mode, can pen it all down, and nothing gets forgotten. I think when he walks in he sees the kitchen cabinets. Eh? I'd say before he takes off his ACUs he has to go to the office, but half the time he's in civies. Hmm. I guess I could be direct and post a sign or stand there and point him in the right direction myself? I don't want this to turn into me mothering him, though. There's gotta be some way he and I can work together to figure out how to get him organized for work a little better. Hmpf. Any suggestions?

To top off the evening, I got a voice mail from Jan about the parents' Blockbuster account that I still use from time to time. It turned out that it wasn't about anything I'd checked out, but I still just about had an anxiety attack in combination of the stress of Joe and I not being in control of our house and the intense nature of the last time I received a call from the parents regarding Blockbuster. I felt compelled to send a lengthy e-mail to Dad and Jan that outlined my innocence. I hope it gets figured out; I'm sooo chopping up my damn card in the morning. Also, I hope Joe isn't out of uniform tomorrow. Here's hoping...

it's only mothering if you leave signs up for too long :).

Maybe put up some sort of key hook right by the office so when Joe gets home, he puts his car keys right by the office...which then tells him to go into the office to do stuff as he unwinds. I know that's where Paul goes the minute he gets home to do paperwork stuff & look at the day's mail. Good times in married life, eh?
Paul's heading to California for the week. Seriously, this is the 2nd week in a row he's been out of town. It wasn't like this when he was active duty!

Katie you are always entertaining! I am at least glad to hear you and Joe get to sleep in the same bed...even if he is taking up the whole thing!
