Suck It, Trebek

Ah, these are my loves.  My half-naked loves with a disaster area behind them and a laptop in front of them.  Maddie was...helping.

I'm in bed now, and I actually heard Maddie stirring around....whacking her pacifier against the side of her crib...before I came in here.  Go to sleep, child!!!!  Gah.  I chose to just come in here and act like I heard nothing.  That said, Joe is sleeping in the guest room with the monitor.  He'll wake up if she starts wailing, but he can sleep through her just messing around in there.  At least that's what I will tell myself tonight.  I did try to quiet her down once before giving up.  Oh well.  And before you start reading too much into why Joe is in the other room, it is because our 3.5 year old expensive ass memory foam Serta, Vera Wang edition, king size mattress has sunken in spots that hurt his back.  Super good quality, no?  And we thought it would last 15-20 years.  Hilarious.

Nothing much new really.  The job front is what it is.  I'm starting to think more about the applicant pools and the electronic process through which applicants are selected.  Lots of room for error, as a dear friend informed me.  We need people picking people, people!  C'mon.  AND, just today someone told Joe his resume was vague and asked if he had been to a specific school (training).  Joe let the guy know that he had been to that school but that the name changed in 2009, and the school listed on his resume was the updated name.  HOLY HECK.  If potential employers are not up to speed on training names, etc, how are we ever going to have a good chance at gainful employment?  Ah well.  I really do think things will work out.  Perhaps at the eleventh hour, but I have hope.  Of course then at other times I think we'll be moving in with our family, and that makes me want to hurt people.  We are loved, though, and that helps, as everyone and their cousins is keeping an eye out for job opps.  It is much appreciated.

This past weekend was a four-day weekend for Joe.  I honestly cannot remember what occurred on Friday or Saturday, except that we got our air conditioner serviced.  Sunday erased my memory.  Yes, that would be Father's Day, synonymous with "the day Maddie went nuts."  Though she is/was battling constipation and teething, as well as a now constant dislike for her plush Britax car seat, we decided to be brave and make the trip to the GA Aquarium in Atlanta.  She slept for 2/3 of the drive, and then whined and moaned for the last bit, which carried over to our lunch.  We ate burritos in the Chipotle parking lot out of the back of our SUV while she crawled all over us.  During this time, we were asked for money by a homeless man and witnessed a young black guy (late teens, early 20's) get into it with a very small Asian mother.  I guess the guy opened his car door and hit the mother's son (I never even saw the kid outside of the vehicle, so I know he wasn't playing around in the parking lot, acting a fool).  She said something (unknown), and he responded belligerently.  She stood her ground, though, even as her husband tried to move between them.  She shook him off and told him to get in the car.  I think she would have beaten young guy's ass if it came down to it.  Dude.  If you hit a kid with your car door, just say you're sorry.

After that fine show of humanity, Maddie moaned and wined the whole way to the aquarium from lunch.  Joe and I both freaked out somewhere in there.  We considered just going home but didn't.  At the aquarium, there was a line, though Maddie was chill through it, and of course inside, there was a shit load of people. By then it was Maddie's nap time, but she held it together for a bit before losing her mind again.  She sort of liked looking at the fish....

Soon after, she really just couldn't hang anymore, not by being held and not in the stroller, so into the carrier she went.  She slept for the last half hour of the aquarium while snuggled up to her dad.  It was adorable, but then of course she woke up in the parking lot and moaned and whined the whole way home!!  Cheers to parenthood!!!

Everday's in adventure, Katie. :) And there are few things better in life than a family outing. Good for you & Joe for taking Maddie to the aquarium! And if you ever want your daughter to be vastly educated in the sciences, just drop her off at Aunt Sarah & Uncle Paul's for a visit. :)

Yeah, we tried. Didn't go exactly as planned, but I hear she may just take a minute to get used to her new car seat. (Oh please let that minute hurry up!) If you were closer, I would totally drop her off. Like all the time. :-)

What a weekend! Your photos are super cute, especially the first one. Maddie's hair is so stinking adorable with the little ends that curl out.
