Well. I Just Set Off the House Alarm.

I managed to turn it off pretty quickly, just as I do every other time I accidentally set it off. Still, this time I was at the opposite end of the house (from the keypad) and had to sprint like a gold medal was at stake to shut that thing down. I tried to call ADT to let them know everything was good in the event they'd received a signal, but "all representatives are busy." Here's hoping the cops don't show up. Oh man.

So anyway. This weekend has been pretty good so far. The bullshit has subsided to a degree, and Dex and I have been able to relax. He's been the true victor this weekend - he had a ballin' time at the pond yesterday, and then a couple of his friends came over today. That also means that I got to hang out with one of my friends (and see a chipmunk shoot out of a drain pipe coming off my gutter), but still, I just don't think it's possible for humans to have as much or more fun than dogs. They just appreciate the little things more than we do.

Human contact aside, I've managed to get a few things done this weekend too. I rearranged what it is going to be our office and got it rolling in the right direction. With the help of mineral spirits and a scraper, I managed to get all the stickers off one our book cases that Joe's great grandpa made for Joe's mom back in the day. I think Joe will be pleased. The stickers have pissed him off since I've known him, and they were put on (by a brother or a cousin?) long before that. Also, after a sandbox escapade in which one of the other dogs had to have grown hands and dumped a bucket of sand on Dexter's back, I bathed him. Like car wash style - with a hose and spray nozzle as he stood deeply depressed in the driveway. Not long after that, I put on my big girl pants and fixed the lawn mower. Hell yeah. The mower had thrown a belt, and that's why it wasn't engaging the self-propel option anymore. But I got that belt back on, and it's ready to go. However, I didn't mow today (saving that fun for tomorrow). Instead, I took Dex for a walk so he could air dry a bit more. I'm also trying to ease myself back into working out. Joe keeps making comments about different work out related things I could do. Hint hint. He hasn't said anything specifically about what he wants to come home to. Except for my hair. He told me yesterday that he wants it exactly as it was when he left. He apparently really digs this new haircut. But what the hell - why don't I tone up a little also? Golds Gym is already getting my damn money...

Hey - no cops. 'Night.
