What

So I am in Glasgow, PA right now.  I'm up here to visit and then keep an eye on my cousin and grandma while auntie and uncle take off to Cancun for a break.  I'm actually not going home until Thursday of next week, and my poor puppies are being boarded until then.  Frown.

The trip up itself was a little insane.  Especially now in retrospect, I'm like 'I did that, huh?'  It started with a drive to the local shuttle business, with which I traveled to Atlanta.  Things in Atlanta went smoothly, and my flight to Washington DC, Dulles, was a-ok.  Once there I grabbed some lunch and tried my best to deal with my oncoming nasal problems and post nasal drip.  Then, as I finally settled into the gate, I got an automated call saying my flight was canceled.  Directly following was an announcement over the intercom echoing such news.  And we were just about to start boarding.  FML.

In the customer service line that I was directed to, I found others who were in the same boat as me, some of which had even had the same flight canceled the previous day.  With the next flight booked and the last one leaving after 9PM (this all was happening at about noon), a group of six of us decided to rent a van together.  I didn't get a bad vibe from them, as they all seemed to be upstanding citizens.  Someone even had a corporate account, with which we rented the van for seventy something dollars.  So, after about 3 hours in the car with my new friends, I was dropped off "at the Sheetz just off the turnpike in Bedford (PA)."  I didn't know where this was, but everyone else did including my uncle.  He was there to pick me up, and it all worked out.

I am very distrusting of people these days, but after today I realize that sometimes people are still good (which took some effort to convince the husband of, as he wanted a detailed report of each of the other passengers).  And ya know, I don't know that much about them except that they all live in Johnstown, PA and were all willing to help out one another.  The goodbyes were fast, and it seems weird that I'll never see any of them again.  But alas, here I am with my family...a whole 'nother story in itself.  I might even miss Georgia after this trip...

It's amazing how travel can really bring out the "helpful" in people. I'm glad you made it safe and good luck this week & next!

I'm such a puss. I have trust issues with strangers. I'm glad you got there safe. I'm sure that if any of them acted up, you probably would have busted out some crazy ass banshee moves.
