My Boyfriend's Back, And You're Gonna Be in Trouble

Here it is Tuesday afternoon already.  Joe got back Thursday night, and we had a nice four day weekend together before he had to return to work today.  Picking him up was great as always.  Not like what you see on TV, but still good.  I baked some cookies for the guys, and other folks prepared some goodies as well.  We had a nice spread.  The guys were really tired, but most seemed to appreciate it.  We waited at the company for everyone to show up after unloading their pallets, etc.  I swear Joe is always the last guy to walk in.  I sat there and watched all the other dudes trickle in.  Finally, he walked in!  He seemed bigger (not in the fat sense) and taller than I remembered, and he looked gooooood in his uniform.  Of course, as we closed in on each other, at about a foot or two apart the 1Sgt decided to stop him and give him instruction.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME, DUDE???  Wait two seconds for us to hug.  I watched the commander do the same thing to a friend of mine and her husband as well.  Definitely not like you see on TV.  Ah well.

It's been really good to have him back, as he's been waiting on me hand and foot.  I really didn't expect that.  I'll say I'm going to go do something - let the dogs in or shut the garage door, and he jumps up before I can do it.  It's crazy.  I mean - I prepped him pretty well for the homecoming and that I would need his help with stuff....I just didn't think he'd take to it so well so quickly.  I hope it lasts.  Our weekend was pretty chill.  I swear all we did was eat and spend money.  I forget how much more expensive life is when he's home.  I should know that when he returns I need to just go ahead and set aside about $500 to burn through immediately.  Oh well.

The best part of our weekend was going in for an ultrasound together.  So surreal that he was actually there for it.  It happened so fast.  It seems as soon as I lifted my shirt up, the kid was on the screen.  I tried to watch Joe's face (as well as the rise and fall of his chest to make sure he kept breathing).  I reached over and grabbed his hand, and his eyes barely left the screen.  I remember the first ultrasound, and it took my breath away.  On top of this "first" for Joe, we found out that it is a girl!  I had a little caffeine before we left, and baby girl was kicking all around and putting hands to face.  I'd been feeling questionable flutters for a few weeks now but after watching the screen and matching it to what I was feeling, especially when she let loose a massive ninja kick, I realized I have definitely been feeling her.  I don't feel all of her movements, but the big ones I do.  The day after our ultrasound, I actually saw my stomach move for the first time, and Joe was able to feel her!  I didn't think that would happen for a while, but there we were.  Very cool.

So now he's at work for the next few days until Memorial weekend begins, along with our leave (and beach trip).  I'm trying like hell to get through his laundry today and get things picked back up a bit.  I want shit to be put away, so we can enjoy leave and also start planning on what baby stuff we need/want as well as where everything is going to fit.  Joe Joe's got work to do. Now if only I could sip on a little umbrella drink while I watched.  :-)

OH.  That reminds me.  Joe has returned in quite good shape...as in, I got distracted by him when we were at the gym together over the weekend.  Ended up messing up my circuit.  But good lord, he was doing these pull ups and then immediately going into this parallel (to the ground) position, and I couldn't take my eyes off of him.  Baby boy looks goooood.  Very toned and eating well, which is a little weird for me, as I'm getting bigger and bigger and sometimes have to have ice cream or doritos.  Oops.  Anyway.  I need to go check the laundry before it's a 100 degrees outside and too hot to do anymore until evening.  Life is good!!!  (Knock on wood.)

A girl...how exciting! I'm so happy for you two and the fact that he was able to be there when you found out.

Also, I think your hormones may be going crazy with all this talk about how great Joe looks haha. That poor man is going to be eaten alive by you :)
