Legen-DARY

E-5, baby.  We finally got there.  First and last promotion in the Army.  Joe worked his buns off for it.  I know I often think I did, and I'll say I definitely played a part.  But, I've never been over yonder, nor have I ever been literally starving in the woods, dirty, and sleeping less than an hour for multiple consecutive nights or nearly heat stroking or a whole host of other things he's had to endure to prove himself worthy to his unit.  Go, go, husband of mine!!

There are a couple of highlights from the board aside from the actual promotion, which in relaying to y'all will allow me to brag on my husband.  As told to Joe by his sponsor who presented him to the board: before Joe entered the board room the Sgt MAJ was looking over Joe's bio and apparently said "It looks like he's really smart.  Why is he in the Army?"  Ha.  Also noteworthy were when they reviewed his GT score.  Again it was the Sgt MAJ who said "I didn't even know those scores went that high."  Of course they maintained that he is in fact very smart, a good soldier, and deserving of the promotion even after they met him and performed their little ritualistic torture session.  I guess those dickholes back at the company who are hell bent on making my husband out to be a dumbass can SUCK.IT.  Yeah.  And I don't care if ya do read this!!!

One last "cool" thing - they made Joe say the first stanza of his creed in French.  Wanted to have a little fun with the "smart" guy.  I guess he did it.  What a cool dude.  Now if only we'd been able to celebrate today.  Instead, he had the range until after dark and didn't get home until 9PM.  Bah.  He's gotta be back there at 0430, which means up at 0300.  Poop.  I really hope he's not too tired to celebrate tomorrow.  I really REALLY want to go to Pho Vy and then Golden Doughnut.  Oh god, I want it.

Finally, we have a seemingly solid potential buyer for the CR-V coming to town on Saturday.  Joe has talked to the husband, and I've talked to both the husband and the wife.  They're getting a cashier's check for us (supposedly) and seem pretty intent on going home with it.  I SO hope they are not disappointed.  If for no other reason then they're driving 3-4 hours for this deal.  Makes me nervous.  Alas, Joe will be handling it by himself on Saturday, as I'll be at a baby shower.  Just as well.  If this all goes through it would be so amazing, but if not, we have two others seriously interested.  (Honda CR-Vs hold their value, and people seem to know it.)  Man, things are looking up, which for me is always scary as hell.  I'm smilin', though.  Oh yes.
