Five more days left until my days off. Uggh. My hand hurts from writing. Just a couple more assessments left, and then MSW reviews. Where I, the newbie, help review assessments because they require an MSW signature. Maybe at some point I'll even be able review all of our policy stuff before DOJ arrives. I guess my answer to any question can just be "THE ASSESSMENTS ARE DONE ON UNIT 3" and then I'll twitch a little for good measure. :-)
After work today I hit a few balls to Dex and then chilled for a minute. I then attempted to take Dex out front to check the mail with me, but as soon as he saw neighbor kids running around, he took off. It was off the chain - he just ran around and did whatever he wanted while I yelled like a crazy person. Granted they were mostly kids he knows. He still didn't listen to a damn thing I said. At one point I had him pinned down and some almost teenager that we don't know said, "Well, this is awkward." And I wanted to be like, "No, this isn't awkward. This is training. And if you really want to be emo as your hair and your clothes suggest you do, then you need to go back in time because that was sooooo ten years ago." But I didn't because I'm an "adult." So after beating Dex (not really) in my backyard under the cover of my privacy fence, I let him back out to play in my neighbor's backyard with their dogs. My neighbor gave me LOTS of Thanksgiving food they brought back from her in-law's for me - fried turkey, mac n' cheese, butter beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, corn bread casserole, pasta salad, cranberry sauce, rolls, and a sampling of deserts. HOLY COW. And, AND, ANNNNNNND they brought me back fire wood (after I'd only asked where they knew of that I could buy it). I really do have good folks watching over me, and I'm so thankful! Joe and I want to get them a nice gift or something for Christmas. I'm going to try and get info out of one of the kids. :-) We sat outside together tonight and drank a beer while she grilled and their kids played with the dogs. Good times.
Afterward, I came home and ate some of the food (still more for tomorrow), and then cleaned the kitchen and got ready for bed. Tomorrow is a new day, and I need to go buy some Christmas cards so that I can get some of my employees to sign them for Holiday Cards for Heroes. I'm going to try to get some in the mail by Monday or Tuesday. Here's a site for more info. The cards need to get in the mail ASAP! Please consider it!! (Jan, this might be something you would especially enjoy.) http://www.redcross.org/holidaymail
