Dude, Where's My Cornea?

So I'm laying in bed.  We are laying in bed, and I think Joe has already been asleep for over an hour.  He has to get up at 0230, as he is being picked up a little after 0300 for a trip to Ft. Stewart (out past Savannah), Ga.  He and another dude are heading over there, ass-early apparently, for their PRK eye surgery consultation.  Yeah, Joe's getting his eyes fixed on the Army's dime.  Woohoo!  PRK is different from Lasik...something about they "sand blast" your eye instead of cutting it.  That's according to Joe, sooo...  From the brief google search I just did, it does say that PRK doesn't involve a flap in the deep corneal layers.  I guess that makes sense because Joe also said you can't have the Lasik if you're Airborne qualified due to a previous issue with some dude's cornea blowing back during a jump.  Oh Jesus.  But good for Joe; I'm glad he's getting something from the Army after several years of hell.  Maybe not respect or awards for his tiny rack, but he'll have the gift of sight, damn it!

I read all of your comments (I finally got the email notification thing set up), and my sister posted a response to the soup for you to check out in the comments section - slightly varied from the recipe I did, as what she posted is with shrimp.  I did the chicken one.  I've had both, and they are delicious.  I'll post the chicken one some time when the recipe isn't alllll the way in the kitchen.  :-)

As far as the hardening abdomen, I don't think it's contractions or even the pseudo ones either.  There's no tightening and releasing.  Just a constant brick.  I felt her move a heck of a lot today, so maybe she has changed positions...or grew over night.  Or maybe my abs are busting up.  It's weird.  I'm glad I have another doc (midwife appt) next week.  Oh, and I need to clarify that my plan is to do the labor and birthing naturally....but I will be in the hospital for it, not at home.  For one, the Army midwives don't do home-births, and two, just prior to delivery, I gotta get an IV of antibiotics for that Strep B thing in my urine (or as my mother thought, Hep C).  I do NOT have Hep C.

Also, I got a lot of feedback about video games.  Sounds like all us gals hate them, and some of us for very, very, very good reasons.  When I first met Joe, he was playing World of Warcraft.  I know that when he was in college, he'd stay up nights playing that.  Though he never kept those hours in my presence, he would occasionally have to run off to do a "raid" or whatever.  Many times I had visions of smashing his computer, and more than once I wandered in to give him a sweet hello while he was playing only to slam my hand down on his keyboard and mash a bunch of keys/commands to fuck up his game.  :-)  It worked too.  However, any dreams he had of being a lifelong WOWer were dashed by the Army - no time for such intense gaming.  Instead he now only plays his Xbox for an hour or two here and there.  It's certainly better than the WOW days, but I still think it's a bit ridiculous.  Thankfully, he'll still go outside and cut the grass or trim the tree branches, etc, but I know he doesn't like it nearly as much as shooting dudes in Black Ops.  I wish he did, though.

Yay for Joes eyes now he will be able to see so much better when he is playing Black Ops. Seriously though I am glad he is getting something for having sacrificed so much of his life serving! I am also very happy for you that he doesnt play WoW anymore!

So natural birth but in a hospital. You are amazing! I cant wait to hear your story of how the experience is! There is a girl I used to work with who did a natural home birth in water for her 2nd baby (1st was in a hospital and a horrible experience) She loves her natural birth! Anyway I just think it is really inspiring to see people wanting to have a natural labor and delivery. I know you will do awesome!

You are brave, friend. I was doing the natural thing up until I was about 6 cm dilated :)

Yes, I can't make any promises on how it will actually go down, but my plan is to go at it naturally. Joe has been instructed to talk me down should I start freaking out, and I've been doing a lot of squats at the gym to prepare. :-)

My eyes have been awful lately. I haven't worn my contacts for a week and a half unless to workout. But after 5 minutes, they are blurry again. Maybe I need eye surgery too!

I'm excited to try that recipe. Sounds delish!

Yay for Joe getting better eyesight! Also yay to you for getting your email thing fixed :)

You're so freaking brave for going for a natural birth. I'm not going to lie, I'm probably (definitely) going to have pain meds. I suck when it comes pain haha.

World of Warcraft...that thing just never goes away does it? My husband played it when I first met him too & he continued to until last year when his work hours wouldnt allow it but I can tell he's getting the 'WoW itch' again cause he brings up how much fun the raids used to be. *sigh* Maybe his laptop will 'accidently' fall off the desk...maybe.
