Well, I'm finally back on here, which means Joe is already asleep, which means he has to get up at 0430 for work tomorrow. Meh. Time to get back to real life I guess. It's been fun, though. The beach was a pretty good time, despite issues with the hotel. Always something, though we're still a safe distance from the Griswold end of the spectrum. At home we've (he has) worked hard on little house projects, and truthfully, a lot of stuff has gotten done, including working on the baby's room - mainly the closet, which was emptied of ALL its Army contents (whoa). We even (together) researched stuff in our baby bargains book and online for our registry and have a lot of that put together. Uh, if anyone that knows what they're doing wants to look up my registry on Target or Babies R Us and tell me anything else I might need, that'd be a-ok. It's a work in progress.
Ya know this thing is very real now. Winding down the end of the sixth month, and I feel her all the time. I like it. A lot. Even starting to be less scared and more excited about when she'll actually be here. I'm starting to feel like my life won't be completely over. :-)
A while back, before we knew we were having a girl, I read Tina Fey's prayer for her kid, which a fellow blogger had posted. It has stuck with me (haunting me?), and I continue to think over it now that I know we'll be having a daughter. Indeed, may she hit a rough patch. :-) Joe and I added to the prayer during our drive home from Florida. Things like may she not be a whore or end up a teen mom (no offense), have self esteem and not date assholes, not be a dumb ass, etc, as well as things a little more intense like not be kidnapped and sold into human trafficking. Eeeeeek. How do parents gradually let go? I'll be scared as hell. Shoot, I already am, and I've not yet birthed her. Xanax. Yes, please!

Bossypants is now on my list of books to read!
You have NO idea how excited I am for you guys :) There's nothing like becoming a parent...I mean obviously, look at my blog and facebook. Both have been over-run by my kids.
I looked at your registry and here's my two cents.
-crib sheets (I have about 5 sheets per crib). Babies are messy.
-Have you thought about a pump?
-I don't have these, but I hear boppy's are great for tummy time and secure seating.
-Boudreaux's butt paste. Its magic. They only had diaper rash once (in the NICU) and with the butt paste it was gone in 24 hours.
-Moby/Ergo/Baby Bjorn, some kind of carrier. You'll be surprised at how much they want to be held in the beginning. Ok and how much YOU want to hold them :) I have a Moby, a sling and a carrier (infantino). They all are great for different reasons/uses.
-it looks like you plan to breast feed (yay!), but you might register for some bottles just in case. You can always keep the gift receipt and exchange them if you don't use them.
-monitor. I have a sony that we love.
-White noise machine. Our plays has several settings, one of which is a swooshing slow heart beat meant to mimic the sounds inside the womb. They LOVE it. Fall asleep instantly.
-if you don't have a pack n play/co-sleeper already, those are nice. We use one downstairs for naps and changings an one in our room for them to sleep in next to our bed. I'm not ready for them to go to their own room just yet ;)
-we go through burp towels like crazy.
-WIPES. Unless you plan to use flannel with cloth diapering.
-baby bath tub. Although we used the sink for the first month and that worked just fine.
Thats all I can think of for now. Sorry I totally just dominated your comments section! I'll message you if I think of anything else. I also have some organic breast pads I never used, a breast feeding cover and a whole pump kit (minus the pump) you can have if you want it. My parts are for Medela Symphony, but I think you can use them on other Medela's. I'll look into it if you're interested. The only thing you have to get new is the tubing. The rest you can sanitize and use safely.
Wow. Sorry that was so long!
Wow, Aimee is the bomb :) Seriously, sheets. You will go through so many sheets. And now this is just from my own personal experience, but if you're going to get a pump- spend some money and get a good one.
And once she's here you'll figure out what you absolutely need and be able to go from there.
I may not be able to offer anything in the baby department, but I just want to say I'm still a Katieshore fan. You're great. xox
